Painting in progress

just ignore the glare. it's a thumbnail.  bellow is the full painting.  im trying to keep things loose. feel free to comment, even if you don't like my art. it's hard to get any sort of dialog about art these days. i mean in art school, sure. all you talked about was art. and now.... crickets.

here's the whole painting. still not done, just started. fingers crossed for finishing for show. it's big.
30" X40"

  1. Hey jeanine! I love the light between the curtains- looking really good so far. i wonder about the double circle behind the figure, which i guess is supposed to mimic the breast. will it stay as is or is it developing with the painting? Not sure why but part of me wonders if just one circle would suffice.... But I like how it could also represent a halo- madonna and child kind of thing....anyway, look forward to seeing where it goes!

    1. Oh! thank you Sarah! I haven't decided where i am going with the circles yet. i wanted a hint of madonna thing and in the photo i am working with it is a huge sun. if i go that rout i'll change it to a moon. and might think some about woman as goddess. and yes the breast thing. i also think of all the tiring times and how i've heard of women hearing that everything should be great after they have a kid but there is still a lot of work and maybe post partum depression.
as far as the 'secret' part for the show this is the conversation that has been between me and my friend and i hope to incorporate this some how and will be on the back of the painting. this was a response from my friendd
'I found this little nugget of info that relates to my photos/secret:
"Fact: The hormone that causes the MER (“Milk Ejection Reflex”) is oxytocin, the same hormone that causes menstrual cramps, uterine contractions during labor, and orgasms. That’s why you may experience leaking during sex, which can turn your partner on or off, depending on how he feels about it. It is good for both of you to know that it might happen, so that you won’t freak out if it does. Some couples find that emptying the breasts before making love helps, some incorporate it into their lovemaking, and some just laugh it off and keep a towel around to soak it up."

      me again:
there is a lot of talk about breast feeding now. and where you and i (Sarah Hunter) in our situations would be all for it, there is a lot of society that thinks it's gross or wrong. my image isn't pretty so i hope it doesn't have the opposite affect. Oh! i just noticed you can see the painting of the vibrator in the back of the photograph!!!! anyways, a lot of women, girls, those with babys are sent home with formula. i remember being surprised as a coworker who just had a baby at the Academy of Natural Sciences, and herself i would have described as hippy at one time if no longer. didn't breast feed and thought my assumption that she did was preposterous and gross.

anyways, that's kindof my thought on all of it. always evolving. i wish i had such a precise way of putting things like you did at La Salle
